Preserving flowers

The easiest way to preserve flowers is to air dry or hang them.

Why not enjoy your flowers even longer by preserving them! not all flowers will successfully be dried out but certain ones will, such as wildflowers, daisies, statice, lavender, paper daisies, native and roses. Feel free to experiment, this process reminds me of being a child and pressing and drying flowers at home, its fun!

A few tips are:

Trim stems to no shorter than say 15cm, tidy up the stems remove any foliage and dead or damaged petals.

Group stems together and bunch up the same type of flowers.

Tie stems together with twine, hang in a dark, well ventilated area, allow distance between bunches if you are doing a few to allow circulation of air.

Depending on the flower it will take two-four weeks to dry, flowers will feel slightly crisp.

Display them in a vase or use them for craft projects.

These are simple and easy techniques to enjoy your flowers for longer. Also it is a lovely way to hold onto that sentimental bunch of flowers, have fun at home and decorate the house. Wedding bouquets can also be preserved I would recommend a professional service for this, there are many and the outcome is a beautifully presented creation that will give you a lifetime of memories.
